United We Spy
Ally Carter’s United We Spy is the sixth and final book in the Gallagher Girls series.
Cammie has been tortured and hunted by the terrorist organization known as the Circle of Cavan. They killed her father and tried to kill her. Now she knows why. She knew the names of the Circle’s founders and the descendants of these founders are now being hunted down by both sides. The Circle has infiltrated every known spy agency and there are very few who can be trusted. As Cammie enters her final semester, she and the Gallagher Girls must prevent the Circle from ruining the world in this exciting series finale. Cammie has gone through so much over the course of this series. In I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You, we were introduced to the intelligent, talented and naïve Cammie Morgan. In Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy, Cammie met her equals and honed her spy skills. In Don’t Judge a Girl by Her Cover, Cammie gets a glimpse of what it truly means to be a spy and learns what it is like to be a target in Only the Good Spy Young. In Out of Sight, Out of Time, Cammie struggles to recover from a traumatic experience. Finally, in United We Spy, she chases after the terrorist group that killed her father, tortured her, and now plans to tear the world apart. Over the course of the six books, Cammie has gone from a naïve girl to a brave spy. Her courage, determination, and intelligence shine brightly, as she works hard to fight for what she believes in. United We Spy is a wonderful conclusion to the series. From beginning to end, the book is filled with no-stop action. The characters embark on multiple missions and each one is full of excitement and suspense. The plot leaves little time for the humor and fun of the first few books. Each installment has gotten progressively darker and more serious. While this is great for an attention grabbing plot, those who loved the lightheartedness of I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You will be disappointed. Unlike many series finales, United We Spy did not forget its supporting cast. While the characters try to bring down a terrorist organization, they are also forced to contemplate their future. This is their final year at Gallagher Academy and each character must choose a path for their life. Some go off to college, some join spy agencies, and others are still undecided. Each character shows the growth they have had over the series and receive a decent amount of attention. Cammie has gone through an emotional rollercoaster over the course of the series, and in this finale, she is finishing her final year of high school with a bang. I give this 293 page book 4.5 stars.
